Reminder: Updated Drive Letter Mappings

Posted:
October 11, 2022

As mentioned in our August 30th Tech Alert, OIRT has simplified file shares on Windows machines. Instead of using multiple drive letter mappings, all files are now consolidated under the H: drive. We ask that you please use the H: drive for all files stored on FDU network shares.

During this transition, files have been accessible through both the original drive letter as well as the new H: mapping. Please be aware that the old drive letters will be removed starting tomorrow and your data will be accessible through the H: drive only. As a result, you may notice that shortcuts to the old drive letters are missing and need to be recreated. Additionally, if you are unable to access a file through “Quick Access” in Microsoft Office applications such as Word or Excel, simply select “Open”, then “Browse”, and select your file from the H: drive.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you have any questions, please contact the University Technical Assistance Center at (973)-443-8822.
