Automatic Updates for FDU Devices running iOS and iPadOS Starting in 2024

FDU OIRT has been sending periodic Tech Alerts to inform our faculty and staff members of critical updates to the iOS and iPadOS operating systems. Due to the frequency of these OS updates, OIRT will be taking a new approach in 2024. Going forward, when an OS update is available, we will automatically install it on FDU-owned iOS and iPadOS devices on the next possible Tuesday evening.

To ensure smooth updates, please have the device connected to Wi-Fi and a power adapter on Tuesday evenings so that the updates can occur automatically. If your device is powered down or not connected to the internet during an update, the OS will automatically be downloaded to your device upon its next connection to the internet.

As always, you have the option to manually check for OS updates at any time.
