Introducing FDU Anywhere (A Virtual Desktop for Students)

Starting with the beginning of the Fall Semester, FDU will be offering a new platform for students to remotely access many of the software applications typically found in our Computer labs. The service, called FDU Anywhere, is powered by Apporto. You may access it using the link below:

To start the semester, the following software will be accessed from FDU Anywhere:

  • MatLab
  • SPSS
  • SAS (Not available for Vancouver)
  • Adobe Cloud Suite
  • AutoDesk Suite
  • Office Suite
  • Maple
  • MS Visual Studios

Additional software will be added over the course of the semester. You will be able to check this website under FDU Anywhere to find the most current software list.

How will FDU Anywhere work?

Logging into FDU Anywhere will be like walking into one of FDU’s Computer labs.  Upon providing your FDU NetID and Password, you will have access to all of the site’s software modules.  However, much like an FDU computer lab, seats in FDU Anywhere are limited, and not always available. If a particular software module is not available, try again in a few minutes.  If you are using FDU Anywhere, please do not occupy a seat within a particular software module unless you are using it.  By keeping a session active, you could be prohibiting a fellow student from accessing it.  When you want to leave FDU Anywhere, simply log out.

How will I Save Documents?

When you log into FDU Anywhere, you will be accessing your own remote desktop, which allows you to directly save documents. However, instead of saving your documents on FDU Anywhere, the best experience is to save them to your OneDrive account. Your documents will be more accessible and easier to store and share from OneDrive.

A Few Helpful Hints

  • Please allow some extra time when you need to use software in FDU Anywhere in case you need to wait for a seat.
  • Please sign out when you complete your work in any application so the next student can access that software.
  • Return to this site frequently for updates on available software.
  • Be on the lookout for a follow-up Tech Alert as soon as FDU Anywhere becomes available on your campus.

If you have any questions about FDU Anywhere, please contact UTAC at (973)-443-8822 or by opening a support case.
