Introducing Multi-Factor Authentication

Starting next week, FDU will be implementing Cisco Duo Multi-Factor Authorization (MFA) for all FDU services using a NetID username and password.  MFA is a means of ensuring that hackers cannot access an account even if they gain access to the password. Once an FDU account is enrolled in MFA, the user’s mobile device, typically a cell phone, will become an additional means of confirming their identity.  There are several authentication options such as a phone call, or text message code. The most popular option is a simple push notification on your phone, which is as easy as clicking “Yes”.

As online scammers perpetually find new ways to exploit your personal information, FDU IT will be equally vigilant in implementing methods to secure it.  Once we begin to roll this service out to the community, we will send an additional communication with installation instructions and answers to many of the questions that you may have. Stay safe and thank you for your attention to this matter.
