Zoom Client Update Policy

Starting on the evening of November 4th, 2022, Zoom will require software version 5.8.6 or higher to access the Zoom client. Once Zoom implements this policy, users attempting to run an outdated version of the Windows, MacOS, IOS, or Android Zoom client will be prompted to update the client before connecting to their Zoom meeting or to use the web client. To avoid this potential inconvenience, we ask that you preemptively confirm that your Zoom client meets the new requirements.

If you are using an FDU owned Apple computer, your client is already up to date. For all other Windows and Apple computers, please open the Zoom client and click the icon in the top right of the screen which displays your profile photo or your initials. From here, select Help, and then About Zoom.

A window will pop up showing your current version.

If you have determined that your client needs to be updated and you are using an FDU issued Windows PC, please download the Zoom client from the FDU Self Service Portal for Software. All other users can download the latest version directly from Zoom.

In some instances, you may need to create a new desktop shortcut after upgrading the Zoom client. If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact the University Technical Assistance Center at (973)-443-8822.
