Computing Services invites all Faculty and Staff using Lenovo Windows-based laptops to schedule their technology refresh appointment. Refresh will be performed on-site at both the Florham and Metropolitan campuses. Appointments will alternate between campuses beginning Monday, August 18, 2025.
All faculty and staff using Lenovo Windows-based laptops must schedule a refresh appointment.
Important
WISP training must be completed before scheduling a refresh appointment. If your training is not currently up to date, please complete it now using the link below.
Appointment Types
- Data Transfer – Single User Laptop Refresh
- Return Laptop Only
(Laptops may be returned during a refresh appointment or via a SAMI ticket.) - Shared Loaner or Presentation Department Laptop Refresh
(Departments with more than three shared laptops must schedule multiple appointments.) - Lab Laptops Refresh
(For departments with four or fewer lab laptops. Computing Services staff will schedule and deliver to labs with higher quantities.)
Appointments for newly hired employees or new laptop approvals will continue to be handled through the SAMI Support Portal and are not part of this refresh.
During the appointment, your new laptop will be fully set up for login, software, and printing. Your FDU data will be transferred from the old laptop to the new device. Backing up personal data from the “Personal Documents” folder is the user’s responsibility. Your current laptop and power adapter will be collected at the appointment.
Each session will take approximately 2 hours. We strive to stay on schedule and appreciate your patience and cooperation. Appointments are available through mid-October and can be scheduled at the following locations:
Florham Campus
Monninger Center – The Orangerie
Metropolitan Campus
Dickinson Hall – 2nd Floor, Room 2271
While Computing Services will verify CrashPlan backup functionality before appointments, we recommend taking the following steps in advance:
- Back up all personal files to an external drive.
- Bring your mobile device with the Duo Security app for authentication.
- Bring your laptop’s A/C adapter to the appointment.
- Confirm CrashPlan is installed and actively backing up your system.
While Computing Services will be checking scheduled appointments to ensure CrashPlan backup is installed and properly working, it is a great extra step for each individual to do the same, especially if requesting an appointment within a few days.
